I had an extremely poor experience trying to make an appointment with Dr Anita Patel’s office at Complete Dermatology Bondi. I first called to ask about booking without a referral. I was told I could, but that if it was urgent, I would need one. Given my situation was urgent, I went to the trouble of getting the referral immediately and sent an email with all the required details, including clarifying an error my doctor had made with my date of birth. After no reply within 24 hours, I tried to call. Yesterday I was left on hold for 20 minutes with no answer. Today, when someone finally picked up, I was told they receive 100–150 calls/emails a day, as though that excused the lack of response. If a clinic is that busy, then it should employ more staff or improve its front desk processes as there are clear inefficiences. The receptionist then proceeded to go over the same details already in my email, including the incorrect date of birth I had already explained in writing. Instead of being helpful, she was rude, dismissive, and deliberately antagonistic. When I asked for her name to make a complaint, she refused to provide it — even after I asked four times. She then hung up on me. I called back and spoke with another staff member who also refused to provide her name or the name of the previous receptionist. She even refused to tell me how many people were working at reception that day. The only information she would give me was that the business is owned by Dr Anita Patel. I find it appalling that a medical practice collects all of my personal details but refuses to give even a first name when asked. I have never experienced such unprofessional behaviour in a healthcare setting. Patients deserve respect, responsiveness, and basic accountability. Instead, I was stonewalled, dismissed, and treated rudely. If this is how the front desk operates, it raises serious concerns about the overall efficiency and care within the practice. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Complete Dermatology Bondi and will be making a formal complaint through other avenues.
