I visited this store to restock a few beauty essentials and ended up spending around $250, but unfortunately the customer service really let the experience down. While I was still shopping with a basket in hand, I accidentally crossed near the security gates and was immediately spoken to with “um, you can’t leave without paying,” which felt unnecessary and awkward considering I was clearly still browsing and had no intention of leaving. I also asked staff to help me locate some eyeliners, which took around 15 minutes and required two staff members. That part was fine, but things became frustrating at the register. I asked to redeem my points, but instead of applying them correctly, the staff member added the redemption item to my total and charged me. When I questioned it, another staff member had to step in and neither seemed confident about how the system worked. I had to repeatedly explain that I did not want to pay for the redemption item and asked whether I would be refunded. During the attempted fix, I was then charged $26 for another customer’s order by mistake, and was told “you just paid for someone else’s order,” which again was spoken as if the error was mine. Eventually both amounts were refunded, and I was asked if I wanted to redeem my points again. At that stage I declined because the process had become too stressful. Overall, the situation felt disorganised, uncomfortable, and poorly handled. I expected more professionalism given the amount I spent. I hope staff receive better training on the POS system and customer communication moving forward.
