I had high hopes for Skinstitut, especially given its clinical branding and popularity among skincare professionals, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I used a range of their products, hoping to address my dry and sensitive skin concerns, but instead, I found they made my skin feel tight, sore, and more irritated than before. Even products marketed as hydrating or calming didn’t provide the moisture or relief I was expecting. In fact, I ended up with burning and stinging sensations, particularly after layering products like their serums and moisturisers. My skin barrier seemed compromised rather than supported. I was also surprised by the number of potentially irritating ingredients in their formulations, considering the brand’s clinical image. Fragrance, alcohols, and other sensitising additives felt unnecessary and harsh, especially for already fragile skin types. I’ve since switched to gentler, more nourishing alternatives from other cosmeceutical brands and my skin is slowly recovering. While Skinstitut may work for some, I personally wouldn’t recommend it for those with dry, sensitive, or compromised skin barriers. It simply wasn’t the right fit for me.
