5.0After trying a few major chains, I felt intimidated to try a small business cosmetic clinic but have now been loyal for just over two years. The staff have been very friendly and accommodating, and helped direct me to one of their male technicians when I expressed interest in men's laser hair removal, which is a rarity in Sydney. Moe has been attending to me since, he works very efficiently while maintaining a high standard, and has an amicable personality that makes an otherwise personal experience very comfortable. I have been getting cosmetic procedures done around Sydney for years and Specialist Skin & Laser Clinics offers a wide range of treatments that I have not yet seen elsewhere, all with unbelievable competitive pricing. My friends from around Sydney are jealous! The staff are well informed about their treatments, especially Moe who has helped me achieve the cosmetic results I never thought possible, while also recommending treatments that were exactly what I was looking for. Such a hidden gem is available to us locals right at our doorstep, if you are even just a bit curious, just come in for a consultation, I guarantee you will be in safe hands. 1.0I attended a laser session today at this clinic, which would have been approximately my 20th session overall since I began attending here in 2023. This visit, however, was my third session using a prepaid credit. The original credit had expired, and I paid approximately $300 for it, which covered three sessions in total. On 16 October, I called the clinic specifically to ask what could be done so the credit would not go to waste. I was advised by the staff member on the phone that the credit could be extended for a further six months. Based on that advice, I booked a session for 18 October, which I attended, and another for 22 November. When I later attempted to book a December session, I was told it was too soon, so my final session was booked for January. After completing today’s session, I received a phone call stating there was an issue with my credit and that today’s session had not been paid for. I returned to the clinic to clarify the situation and explained the full history, including the phone call on 16 October where I was told the credit would be extended. I was also informed that because I had not attended for some time, I needed to complete a form, which I promptly did when it was emailed to me. The staff member advised she could not resolve the issue and called over the second-in-charge. I again explained everything that had occurred. I was then told that the credit extension should not have been approved without a doctor’s letter and formal approval from operations, and I was repeatedly asked whether I had received an email from operations (which I had not, as everything was handled over the phone). Throughout this interaction, I was not allowed to finish my sentences and was repeatedly interrupted. I was told multiple times that I needed to “be respectful,” despite the fact that I never raised my voice. My frustration stemmed solely from being cut off and not being listened to. I was also told that head office would be called if I continued - which felt unnecessary and threatening. It is important to note that from the beginning I offered to pay for the session. I stated clearly that I was happy to pay whatever the cost was. However, instead of resolving the payment, I was repeatedly lectured about internal processes that were never communicated to me in the first place. Had I been told on 16 October that a doctor’s letter or written approval was required, I would have complied immediately. I repeatedly said to the second in charge that of was told about what is required when I spoke I October I would have done all of it, but no body said anything. The way I was spoken to was humiliating. I have never felt more humiliated in my life. I was made to feel as though I was being dishonest, despite being a long-term client who had acted in good faith based on the advice provided by staff. The interaction escalated to the point where I was brought to tears, and I could not stop crying even after I left the clinic. I had to pull over on the side of the road just to compose myself. Eventually, I was told I would be given a “complimentary session,” which I explicitly declined. I did not want anything for free - I simply wanted to pay and leave. My payment was still refused. I then went to Woolworths, withdrew $100 in cash, returned to the clinic, placed it on the counter, and left. At that point, security was present. Enjoy the $100. Following the session, the owner called to apologise, which I appreciated. He had spoken to his team, and I shared my account as well. However, two weeks later I remain deeply affected. I was humiliated and left in tears, and no one intervened while I was spoken to in a demeaning way. I was also asked to reconsider my review because it is a small business. I initially removed it, but after reflection, I believe it should remain. This experience continues to impact me, and while I will not return, I do not believe I should be the only one carrying the consequences. The review is factual and reflects what occurred.
