I have now seen Dr Esther Hong several times since the retirement of the legendary Professor Shumack, who had been my dermatologist for many, many years, and I could not be happier with the care I have received. Changing specialists after such a long time was something I was genuinely concerned about, but Dr Hong has been outstanding from the very beginning. She is professional, caring, thorough, and always takes the time to listen and explain things clearly. Her attention to detail and calm, reassuring manner make every appointment a very positive experience. It is clear that Dr Hong is highly knowledgeable and genuinely dedicated to her patients. She has continued the high standard of care I was accustomed to, and I now feel completely confident being under her care. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for an exceptional dermatologist.

From start to finish, my experience here has been exceptional. The doctors took the time to really listen to my concerns and explained everything clearly, which made me feel comfortable and confident in my care. The staff were warm, welcoming, and kept me updated at every stage of the process. It’s rare to find a place that combines professionalism with genuine compassion— You can tell they genuinely care about their patients, and the whole team goes out of their way to help. highly recommend to anyone looking for quality service and a team that truly cares.

I waited for over 1 hour for my appointment, and the consultation lasted only about 5 minutes. Despite the very short time spent with me, I was charged $320, which I feel is quite expensive for such a brief visit. I understand doctors can be busy, but long waiting times with no communication or explanation are frustrating. I would have appreciated better time management and a more thorough consultation for the fee charged. Overall, I am disappointed with the experience.

We came to this clinic because my son had a serious skin issue and a rash all over his body. The appointment cost $320, and the doctor spent only about 5 minutes with us. In our experience, a diagnosis was given without a proper examination. When we asked how he was sure, he replied, “Because I have a medical degree.” He told us to keep using the same cream my son had already been using for 3 months with no improvement, and he did not prescribe anything else. Two weeks later, my son’s skin became worse, so we went to another doctor. That doctor told us that, in addition to the original diagnosis, my son also had a skin infection and an allergic rash, and that the treatment plan needed to be different. We followed the treatment recommended by the other clinic’s bulk-billed GP, and it helped. Based on our experience, I do not recommend the dermatologist at St George Dermatology and Skin Cancer. This was not only a significant expense, but also a loss of valuable time while my son’s condition worsened.

For my initial consultation the doctor was half an hour late in seeing me and just brushed it off like it was nothing when I said something. The consultation was very rushed and short, and I do not feel she addressed what I was there for. She did however check my face for potential cancers (not at all what I was there for) and suggested a cream which seems to be working. She also had a look at my back where there are moles and some ‘spots’. My GP had wanted these addressed but again she just brushed this off saying to get someone at home to keep an eye on them, despite me telling her I live alone. I feel at the very least photos should have been taken so there is a baseline of what I have looked like. Not confident in following up with her.
