What skin needling actually involves
Skin needling uses a device with fine, sterile needles to create tiny punctures in the upper layers of the skin. These controlled micro-injuries trigger the body's natural wound-healing response, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. Over the following weeks and months, this can improve skin texture, soften acne scarring, reduce the appearance of fine lines and enlarged pores, and give the skin a more even, refreshed look.
Most clinics use either a motorised pen-style device or a roller. A numbing cream is usually applied beforehand to keep you comfortable. Some clinics combine needling with serums, hyaluronic acid, or platelet-rich plasma (PRP, sometimes marketed as a "vampire facial") to enhance results.
What to expect
A typical session takes around 30–60 minutes, including time for the numbing cream to take effect. During the treatment you'll feel a light vibrating or scratching sensation, but it shouldn't be painful with adequate numbing.
